How to Take a Screenshot in Microsoft Edge?

There are two different tasks when people ask how to screenshot in Microsoft Edge: capture what is visible on the screen, or capture the entire webpage. Use the operating system screenshot tool for the visible browser window and a browser/page level method for a full webpage.

Capture what is visible in Microsoft Edge

On Windows, press Windows+Shift+S for any visible Edge area, or use Snipping Tool Window mode for the browser window.

Current Edge versions can expose browser specific screenshot/page capture options whose wording may change over time. Use those for webpage content and Snipping Tool for browser chrome or other apps.

Why full page capture can look different from the browser window?

A browser full page screenshot captures webpage content, not necessarily every piece of browser chrome. Sticky headers, lazy loaded images, ads, infinite feeds and animations can also change while a long page is rendered. Inspect the final result before relying on it.

Screenshot a menu, permission dialog or browser chrome

Use the operating system’s screenshot tool when you need tabs, the address bar, browser menus, permission prompts or another application in the same image. A webpage only capture tool generally cannot photograph UI outside the webpage itself.
